Trapping is an impotant part of protecting our biodiversity by removing pests that destroy native plants and bird eggs. Anyone can get involved at home with a simple Wooden Rat Trap Tunnel or a more advanced Smart Trap. Kill counts and trap locations can be loaded to Trap NZ via their mobile phone app.
Hot Water Beach is home to NZ Dotterels that take up residence on the Main Beach between March and September every year to nest. If your interested in learning more or minding, please get in touch with DOC.
