Community Planning

Hot Water Beach ratepayers play an important role in shaping how our community grows, functions, and is cared for over time.

Council decisions range from long‑term spatial plans that look 30 years ahead, through 10‑year Long Term Plans that prioritise investment and services, to day‑to‑day maintenance that affects our roads, reserves, and public spaces.

Representing the views of the Hot Water Beach community helps ensure these plans and activities reflect local knowledge, protect what makes the area special, and respond to the needs of both current and future residents.

Council Planning

The Hot Water Beach Ratepayers Association intends to collect the views of our ratepayers to inform submissions on council planning documents.

The Current Council Plans are:

Mercury Bay South Community Plan - Sets out important issues for communities with a 10-year hoizon. This plan was adopted in 2020.

Annual Plans - Set out what the council intends to achieve in the next financial year, how much it will cost and how that cost will be funded.

Long Term Plans - Sets out all the services and projects the council is planning for the next 10-years and how they will be funded.

Spatial Planning

Under the new Resource Management planning system announced in December 2025, Regional Spatial Plans are mandatory for councils to produce. They are required to set long-term startegic direction identifying growth areas, infrastructure corridors and areas needing protection.

As the process for implementing these plans becomes known to the association, we will provide further details.

We intend to gather the collective views of ratepayers and use these to submit on relevant council plans, including the spatial plan.
